The heart is typical of a carnivorans like that of a dog as two vessels erupt from the aorta. It possesses brachiocephalic trunk for the left subclavian.

Olfaction
Arctic bears hunt seals while using their sharp smelling sense (olfaction). They are able to smell seals at a distance of about 1.7 kilometers. The remarkable olfaction ability allows the bear to detect seals moving 3 feet underneath the snow. While walking on the sea ice polar bears keep sniffing along the way.

White bears can also smell big carcass at 10 – 15 kilometers. Scientists believe that male polar bears smell 100 miles in a straight line to find female for mating. This shows that polar bears smell their mates many a miles away. The olfactory bulb in polar bears is nearly the size of a human thumb yet she can smell flesh at a great distance.
Vision

Polar bears appear to have reasonable eyesight in that it can see things at a fair distance. However the sight is not good enough to help bear in searching for prey which is why they rely more on olfaction than on vision. Polar bears are thought to see objects as far as 3 – 5 kilometers away. Studies suggest that bears can also see colors but the color vision is quite limited.
Hearing
The polar bear’s hearing sense is probably not as good as olfaction. But it is not bad either. They can hear things in all directions but sniffing is only done in one direction. However the former is not acute as much. It is said about polar bears that they hear things before they see them.
